ORIX New Zealand is proud to be Toitu Carbon Reduce Certified with ISO 14064-1 – sealing our commitment to measure, manage and reduce our carbon emissions.
Speaking with Mark Flusk, ORIX New Zealand’s Procurement & Sustainability Manager, about what this means for the business he says: “We recognise the environmental impacts of our business and as responsible corporate citizens, we want to ensure we are doing the best we can to understand our carbon footprint and develop a plan to reduce it. Toitu is a great fit because they have the knowledge and tools to effectively support us on our journey”.
ORIX New Zealand will be audited annually by Toitu to review our emissions, maintain certification and ensure that any future reduction targets set are achieved.
"This certification supports ORIX Corporations journey of a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emission sources by 2030, and net carbon zero by 2050 for all global ORIX businesses. However, moving into our second year with Toitu, ORIX New Zealand will be establishing local targets to ensure we are meeting our responsibilities and becoming more environmentally responsible" says Mark.
We have started carbon reduction efforts which include working to replace current ORIX New Zealand fleet vehicles with fuel efficient or fully electric alternatives. At this stage, plans are also underway for reviewing electricity and waste consumption, as well as working on staff education and engagement.
